Would you look at that? It’s our first fall giveaway! Meet Alma, a new yarn from Manos del Uruguay! A single ply fingering weight available in a range of colors, Alma is a great yarn for your next sweater or shawl project. Personally speaking, I love it when each of the swatches I make for these reviews turns out so cool looking in terms of color pooling and variation. Alma is very much a fun yarn to work with for color lovers, as is evident in this particularly bold colorway! 🙂

Skein details: 546 yards/500 meters per skein // 3.5 ounces/100g per skein // 100% Superwash Merino // Light Fingering Weight
Knitting needles: US 1 – 4 / 2.25 – 3.5 mm // 25-30 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
Crochet hook: US F / 3.75 mm // 28 sts = 4 inches (10 cm)
Cons: A single-ply fingering weight yarn tends to stick to itself, so some makers might find its natural stickiness frustrating from time to time. On the upside, this is a superwash single ply, which helps with the stick factor.

Pattern Ideas: Knitters will love Alma for its rich colors, and as a single ply fingering weight yarn, it’s right at home knitting a shawl like the Outlander Chevron Shawl. Crocheters can enjoy some seriously fun color pooling in almost any project, but I’ll recommend the Scrap Scallops Scarf.
