Denim jackets were always in style, but they seem to be having a major moment thanks to the revival of 90s fashion. The material is easy to stitch on and is an ideal canvas for all sorts of designs. Colombian textile artist Ana Maria Restrepo, aka Amarpo, creates statement-making garments by adorning denim in colorful flowers and insects that use a combination of embroidery and crochet.
Amparo’s designs line the shoulders, sleeves, and travel down the front and back of the jacket. While artfully placed, they also feel spontaneous—making them both fun to look at and wear.
