In the fourth instalment in our Definitive Design Products series, we asked Sarah Cosentino and Felicity Slattery, founders of Melbourne-based architecture and interior design firm Studio Esteta, to share their 12 go-to products for 2025—from furniture and lighting to materials and appliances.

Our ‘Definitive Design Products’ series was first featured inside est magazine issue 56: ‘Living Connection’.

01. GUBI Sejour Lounge Chair

“It’s comfortable with beautiful detailing, so it sits quite delicately within a room,” Slattery says of the GUBI Sejour lounge chair. Created by Danish-Italian design duo GamFratesi, the chair is a contemporary take on mid-century Scandinavian design, with upholstery and brass detailing.

02. Grazia&Co Ivy Coffee Table

Designed by Melbourne-based architect Clare Cousins for Grazia&Co, the Ivy coffee table is “such an interesting piece that can be customised to its character within a space,” Slattery says. It features three cylindrical metal legs finished in powder coat, supporting an optional glass, stone or timber top.

03. Møller 77 Chair

For Slattery, the Møller 77 chair by Danish interior designer Niels Otto Møller is “such a solid dining chair.” With its twisted paper seat and natural timber frame, “it feels like it won’t give away beneath you, and is very comfortable to sit on for a long period.”

04. CDK Stone Taj Mahal Quartzite

Though Studio Esteta often works with marble, both highlight Australian-based CDK’s Brazilian-quarried Taj Mahal quartzite. “It provides a neutral base with interest,” Slattery says. “I have it in my kitchen and love discovering new veining I hadn’t noticed before,” Cosentino adds.

05. Vitra Akari 15A

Meaning ‘light’ in Japanese, the Vitra Akari 15A pendant by Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi is handcrafted from shoji paper. According to Cosentino, “it’s a classic, timeless piece that acts as a halo over the dining table.”

06. Bauwerk Colour Raw White

For Slattery, Australian-made Bauwerk limewash paint is a “cost-effective way of adding interest to a room” through a range of colours and textures. “We often use it as a substitute for a more expensive finish because it achieves the same intent.”

07. Anchor Ceramics Earth Light

Designed by Victorian-based artist Bruce Rowe, founder of Anchor Ceramics, the Earth wall light is hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel, giving it a distinctive, handcrafted character. “It’s a good quality Australian-made wall light that works well in every space,” Slattery says.

08. Victoria Carpets Elmview Range

“The Elmview Range by Victoria Carpets,” Cosentino highlights as a must-have in residential accessories. “Locally made and crafted from 100% New Zealand wool, they feature a perfectly sized loop pile. Overall, they just look and feel great.”

09. Big River Group Engineered Wood Panels

When it comes to flooring, Cosentino’s loyalty is with Australian-made Armourpanel Engineered Timber by Big River Group. Crafted from bonded Australian eucalypt hardwood veneers, “they never feature any pattern repeats, so each slab is unique,” she says.

10. Astra Walker Icon Range

The Australian-made Astra Walker Icon range is, for Cosentino, “a classic, elegant and contemporary tapware range that is available in an array of custom finishes, providing architects, designers and clients versatility and a unique approach.”

11. Lacanche Classic Range

Lacanche represents classic French design,” Cosentino says of the Burgundy-based premium range cooker brand. Combining traditional craftsmanship with bespoke metalwork, the range offers a versatile statement piece tailored to suit any kitchen.

12. La Marzocco Linea Mini

Inspired by their Linear Classic, Florence-based La Marzocco’s Linea Mini is “a beautiful Italian industrial design that makes great coffee,” Cosentino says. This kitchen-sized variant features dual boilers and an integrated brew group for temperature stability and energy efficiency.
