Rich, earthy colours are big news, and the Kinship palette in the 2018 Dulux Colour Trends collection gets them so right. One of four themes (including Reflect, Escapade and Essential), Kinship is a folklore-inspired celebration of cultural heritage intermingled with everyday neutrals.
Try grey-greens with terracotta and earthy browns; or red-browns and terracotta with timber, stone and indoor greenery. Add softer shades like grey and beige to offset the more intense ones.
Plain backdrops are the perfect counterpoint to patterned homeware. Selecting soft furnishings and curios with a global influence will bring another dimension to your spaces – think woven fabrics, tribal pattens, fringing, embroidery, timber and ceramics, all in tonal hues. Any dark accents within these pieces will become visual anchors for the stronger colours in your scheme.
