Today we will find the perfect material to make a modern nordic style cake stand for your baking days with items right at your disposal.
I cannot praise enough the clean sleek Scandinavian style that is evidently is still very much loved in 2016. In order, to make a cake stand I gathered a few old vases, candle holders, planters that I tried on with a 10 1/2 inch wide plate to ascertain which one will make the perfect stand like so.
From among them all, I found the pink planter very pleasing to the eye. The glass candle holder looks gorgeous but too risque to make for a stable one. Always go for a bigger base you don’t want it snip of the weight of your cake just in case.Now we will dive into what you will need for this project and how to make it.
Materials:
- 10 1/2 inch plate
- IKEA papaja planter
- E6000 glue
Steps:
Clean your plate and planter ( if you are recycling make sure to clean with soapy water to get rid of any germs ) Invert your planter and apply glue slightly as you go all around the rim. Position your planter before you stick them together.
Make sure that your planter is placed right in the middle, you don’t want to end up with a lopsided cake stand. apply pressure to the planter and in about two minutes gently holding the two pieces between your hands invert so that the plate is sitting on the planter now. Place a cup or two over the plate and let it sit there for at least an hour, away from the reach of your children or pets if any.
