When in Paris for Paris Deco-Off and Maison & Objet earlier this year I was keen to visit Spanish wallpaper brand Coordonné. after seeing some images of their wallpaper collections on Instagram. Their new collection ‘Berber’ is a visual tribute to the richness and traditions of North African Berber culture. Additionally, Coordonné’s new innovative ‘bamboo’ finish with its natural texture gives this collection a warm and unique appearance.
A homage to Berber culture
In the past, great designers such as Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, co-founder of fashion house YSL, were captivated by the colors and visual language of the Berbers, the landscapes, and the fascinating North African cities like Marrakech. Similarly, the design team at Coordonné drew inspiration from the rich symbolism of the Berber tribes, translating it into a wallpaper collection.
The ‘Berber’ collection consists of eleven wallpaper designs with striking patterns in warm color palettes. The designs feature exotic North African landscapes and natural motifs, as well as symbols characteristic of Berber culture. Each design is a tribute to these ancient tribes and their impressive culture, traditions, and craftsmanship.
