If you’re dreaming of a holiday to Portugal, (or let’s face it, anywhere right now), today’s post will provide some much-needed escapism. TheAddresses is a new brand that combines architecture and design with hotel services and curated travel tips. Launched by a Belgian team and born from the founders’ shared passion for the Algarve in Portugal, their numerous trips to the area fueled the new venture. Wanting to share all their tips and experiences with like-minded friends and guests, they started searching for special places that tell a story to transform into holiday homes. With a focus on understated beauty,  inviting interiors and outdoor spaces (each with its own swimming pool), the first house of TheAddresses which I’m sharing today is Casa Um.

Located in a quiet countryside, the relaxed interior of the house and its secluded location have been created for city dwellers to enjoy a slower pace. The former shepherd’s house, situated among the orange groves near Tavira, with beautiful views all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, offers its guests a sense of perfect seclusion. It is also ideally situated to explore the picturesque surroundings, villages and beautiful coastline.

Renovated by Atelier Rua, Casa Um is a modernist take on Portuguese traditions, reflecting the style and details of typical Algarve architecture. The result is a soft minimalist space that is private, contemporary and homely. Located over two different levels, with the communal areas on the upper floor – the renovated Portuguese quinta – and the bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and private patios on the new ground floor, the original farmhouse has been converted into a modern kitchen and living room, completely renovated with large windows overlooking the interior patio, terraces and garden. With its high ceilings, concrete floors, whitewashed walls and subtle pops of colour, the spaces are pared-back yet full of character.
