The Toi Art Gallery, one of my favorite places for buying illustrative prints online, recently concluded their Artist Contest in a quest for an emerging creative to be part of their gallery. The winner of the contest will have their work marketed and sold through the site.
I was honored to be asked to be one the judges (along with the great Janine Vangool of UPPERCASE and illustrator Joanna Concejo), and I definitely had my work cut out for me; there were so many talented people that entered, and whose illustrations I’ll keep my eye on in the future. But there could only be one winner: Laila Ekboir! I love her artistic style that marries fine-lined details with a colorful cast of characters. Congratulations, Laila!
Check out all of the artists in the Toi Art Gallery.
In addition to Laila’s work winning the top prize, there were two honorable mentions: Luisa Arellano and Isabella Conti.
