The new Hands Occupied YouTube Channel is live! Check out the first videos, subscribe, and help me decide what tutorials to make next.

I’ve had a hard time with productivity and focus during 2020 (wonder why?), and for whatever reason that has suddenly not been an issue this week. Enamel pins launched in the Shop last week to celebrate a decade of Hands Occupied, there’s a new logo, and today is the start of the new Hands Occupied YouTube Channel! Check out the first new tutorial:

This long-anticipated project is one I’m so excited to get going! For years I hosted videos for other companies’ social media channels, but I realized I should be using my practiced hosting skills for Hands Occupied for once, and it was time to make YouTube a bigger part of what I do.

Learn how to knit the Triangle Rib Stitch, which creates a versatile, reversible fabric. This beginner friendly stitch pattern is worked over a multiple of 5 stitches and 6 rows, and it's comprised of just knit and purl stitches.

Video production is intimidating, but I’m hanging in there! Here and there I’ve picked up video making tips over the years, and I’m grateful for friends like my pal Dan Hartley, who designed the YouTube intro animation as well as helped troubleshoot lav mic issues with my test footage last weekend.

I’ve also picked up a few skills solo producing & hosting a couple videos for clients in recent years, specifically shooting with two cameras at once. I think makes a HUGE difference in watching yarn craft tutorials, adding a three-dimensionality that helps facilitate understanding, so I plan on making most of the tutorial videos on the Hands Occupied YouTube Channel multi-camera.

I need your input!

What would you like to see on the channel?

As you can see in this video intro to the new channel, I have a couple ideas for videos I’d like to produce for it, but input from you would be so helpful! Please comment on the video or shoot me an email (heidi-at-handsoccupied-dot-com) with suggestions for the videos you’d like to see on the channel. Knitting, crochet, latch hook and macramé are my areas of expertise, but if there’s interest in other content, I’m game. ?

For now, don’t forget to subscribe to the new Hands Occupied YouTube Channel and turn on notifications to catch when new videos go live!
