We need more color and play in our life, especially now more with the news always being so heavy! I recently discovered Danish interior stylist Sussie Frank on Instagram (@sussiefrank) and thought to give you a glimpse of her home/life so you can feel uplifted and positive just as I do each time I visit her feed. Sussie has a real passion for color, shape, and pattern and loves to be extra creative, mixing them all in her work, wardrobe and in her lovely circa 1917 home in Randers, which she shares with her husband, two children and their dog. As the founder of Playground, a consulting firm for fashion and home decor and styling, it’s no wonder why her space is so stylish with such good vibes! Plus, she told me that she loves the scent of fresh lemon – which I can almost smell as I view her home below… And just wait until you see a very special part of her home (in my opinion) – her PINK spiral stairs… Just wait for it…

She photographed her home using her smartphone, which I love because you immediately get the sense of a relaxed, cheerful, and fun family life – not some perfectly edited and overly styled show-home. Her casual, eclectic home is livable but also very chic – I like how each piece is special and interesting to look at. The pastel color-mix is calming and the mostly white walls and floors lighten the space so you feel a bit like you’re walking on the puffy, pretty clouds…

Sussie loves to put her special touches and spin on everything. She waved her magic wand on a design find she acquired last year that you can see above – the pink glass table. “Last year I refreshed an old vintage table and it’s still one of my favorite finds. The heavy black table top was replaced with beautiful pink glass, and coffee just tastes better when I lift the cup from it,” she says on a recent Instagram post. Little touches go a long, long way. You can see this played out in a much bigger way with her spiral staircase. It’s so beautiful, shapely, but she wanted to make it stand out even more with pink. What do you think?

When it comes to color, Sussie is NOT scared to play with it. “Colors makes me happy. Its a happy home. A happy family. I also love basic colors and wooden interior so I just mix it. It feels very natural for me to just mix things. I do not consider it a lot – I just do it.” Susie loves light blue, light pink and light yellow the most at home – those are the colors she’d use if she couldn’t use any others.

Sussie has a few decorating tricks for us today too, I asked her what 3 things we can all do to make our home more colorful right now. She said not to overthink it – to just try, and go for color on a wall, add color through some pillows, rugs or throws, and add a colorful print to the wall in the same tones to add some energy. That sounds easy enough, doesn’t it?

“The stairs are so beautiful in its own figure and I wanted to make it more sculptural with a girly color. I love pink and chose white walls for contrast and appearance.”
