Nikolai Terjuhin, a highly established fashion designer, dreamed of becoming a teacher, but instead he enrolled at Arkhangelsk College of Culture and Art at the choreography department. He started on his designer’s path at the dawn of the 90s where there was nothing to buy at the stores and he wanted to dress fashionably. He has created more than 130 collections and despite the large number of fantasy collections, it was the ethnic traditions that have become defining in his work and have brought well-deserved success both domestically (in Russia) and the world.
He uses traditional materials and fabric typical for the northern folk costume: chintz, satin, linen, brocade, canvas and calico, woolen shawls as well as modern fabrics like denim, gabardine decorated with lace, pearls, jacquard braided inserts, etc.
