Summer Stripes

So far we’ve had a fun start to our Summer with lots of trips to the beach, swim meets, track meets, (mom of 3 boys here) and endless fun in the sun. I haven’t had as much time to sew as I’d like but wanted to make a few garments to add to my wardrobe. I’ve always been drawn to stripes this time of year. It’s a classic print that pairs well with denims. I like the look of a striped top paired with white jeans or a t-shirt dress with a denim jacket. I wanted to make both of these but have a fun twist whether that be a feminine flounce on the sleeve or a draped back. The picky part for me is finding the right striped prints. I wanted a knit with a smaller stripes like this one from Stylish Fabric. It’s just the right width where you see the stripes but doesn’t overtake the design. That way I could add those additional details like the flounce sleeve and draped back. I love that I can wear both of these for a casual day at the park with my kids or dress up to a dinner date with the husband. What’s on your sewing list this Summer?
