Sky Ladder bookshelf by Gabriel Tan Design

I am pretty sure you saw the picture above before. Pictured at the exhibition during Stockholm Design week, where I was introduced to Ariake in this beautiful setting of an apartment under construction. Ariake became quickly a brand we all fell in love with. Previously I showed you another beautiful example: The Kumiko cabinets… how I would love a pair for my own home!

Some pictures are in my folders for ages and today I thought I’d show you this shelves. The shelves are designed by Gabriel Tan Design for Ariake and inspired by the fireworks installation created by Cai Guo-Qiang. Normally I prefer furniture legs to be straight, but I have to admit that in this case I can appreciate the gently curved ends of the shelf which are reminiscent of a rope ladder, suspended from a hot air balloon, according to the website. Available in both black and natural wood.
