Royal Exchange Grind is a sleek espresso and cocktail bar housed within London’s historic Royal Exchange building. Designed by Melbourne-based studio Biasol, this project is a continuation of their collaboration with Grind & Co. which has seen them develop several other locations throughout London, in Shoreditch, Soho, Holborn, Covent Gardens and London Bridge. Taking cues from the building’s rich history, they worked with a local heritage architect to develop a minimalist interior that respects the site’s past. A refined materials palette combines Carrara marble counters with matt brass foot rails and coat hooks. Underfoot, they restored the century-old floorboards, employing the same herringbone pattern in the marble wall tiles that line the space. The resulting interior is both strikingly textural and beautifully elegant.
