Since 2007, Rick Owens has extended his creative world into furniture design, creating monumental and sculptural pieces together with his partner Michèle Lamy. Since 2007, Rick Owens has extended his creative world into furniture design, creating monumental and sculptural pieces together with his partner Michèle Lamy. The line is characterized by a raw and brutalist aesthetic, influenced by Bauhaus, WWII bunkers, and ancient forms. Designs often take on a monolithic scale, blurring the line between art and furniture. Materials play a central role and include marble, alabaster, concrete, bronze, basalt, ox bone, moose antlers, and rare woods.
Michèle Lamy is a driving force in the process. While Owens sketches and conceptualizes, Michèle sources materials from around the world and oversees production with skilled artisans. Their collaboration is described as a dialogue: Owens sets the vision, Lamy manages proportion and fabrication.

When I first showed you the meeting room at the Parisian apartment, I had not been introduced to Scarlett Rouge, Michele’s daughter, before but after seeing her amazing work in Milan at Studio Rö // The Last Supper by Scarlett Rouge during Milan Design Week 2023 // Next to the marble sculptures by Barry X Ball and an he antique urn by Georges Hoentschel, I recognize the wall fresco by Scarlett Rouge next to Rick Owens own design.
Rick Owens lives and works in this formerly office of Francois Mitterrand in Paris, where some of the spaces are stripped down and have this industrial bare look. While Rick Owens apartment in Italy we see complete rooms in travertine, in Paris the bathroom has a concrete sink.
