As part of our Definitive Design series, Sally Cook, co-founder of Pasquale Cook, reveals her 12 standout products for 2025, spanning furniture, lighting, materials, fixtures and kitchen appliances.

Our ‘Definitive Design Products’ series was first featured inside est magazine issue 56: ‘Living Connection’.

01. Baxter Sorrento Revolving Armchair

Designed by Italian architect and designer Paola Navone for Baxter, “the Sorrento armchair is a favourite for its generous volume, comfort and beautiful selection of leather upholstery,” Cook says. “It also suits many types of interiors, and looks great from all angles.”

02. Saba Italia Pixel Sofa

“It’s modular, comfortable and timeless,” Cook says of the Pixel sofa by Italian designer Sergio Bicego for Saba Italia. With feather-padded seat cushions and detachable back and armrests, she adds, “it’s a favourite in our studio at the moment.”

03. Fritz Hansen PK9 Chair

Also known as the “Tulip chair” for its distinct tapered metal legs, Danish designer Poul Kjærholm’s PK9 chair for Fritz Hansen is a go-to piece, according to Cook. “It’s elegant in its tulip-like form, and its classic design elevates any space.”

04. BZippy Ceramic Side Table Collection

Cook is drawn to the geometric forms of BZippy’s ceramic side tables, designed by Chicago-born artist Bari Ziperstein and available through Criteria. “They bring fun, colour and versatility to any space, and can be used indoors or outdoors,” she explains.

05. Halcyon Lake Giverny Oushak Collection

The Giverny Oushak range by Australian rug brand Halcyon Lake is, for Cook, a favourite “for the way they elevate a room and bring warmth and colour through a subtle classic pattern.” Handcrafted in Anatolia, Turkey, the rugs are repeatedly washed to enhance the wool’s natural sheen and variegation, giving them an aged character.

06. Ingo Maurer Uchiwa Wall Lamp

“Uchiwa,” meaning “hand-held fan” in Japanese, lends its name to the wall lamp by German industrial designer Ingo Maurer. Crafted from bamboo and lacquered rice paper, it’s, as Cook says, “a beautiful source of ambient light that also serves as a piece of art on the wall.”

07. Mother of Pearl & Sons Sagittarius Lever Set

“We love the way this set feels to use,” Cook says of the Sagittarius lever set by Melbourne-based hardware manufacturer Mother of Pearl & Sons. Part of their Signature series, the set comes with a choice of round or square rose plates, and “the natural solid brass construction can be patinaed to the preferred level.”

08. Lumina Daphine Terra Led

The Lumina Daphine Terra floor lamp by Milanese lighting designer Tommaso Cimini features a “versatile, simple silhouette” with its articulated arm and pivoting diffuser mounted on a transformer. “It works in most sitting rooms, workspaces and bedrooms,” Cook says.

09. Resene Karen Walker Range

When it comes to paint, Pasquale Cook turns to New Zealand-founded brand Resene. “We love the Karen Walker range, specifically,” Cook says. Created in collaboration with the New Zealand fashion designer, the collection draws on the Bauhaus school of the 1920s, featuring a curated palette of 42 colours.

10. FUM Australia Vert d’Estours Marble

When it comes to stone, Cook is drawn to FUM Australia’s Vert d’Estours honed marble, which is quarried in the Central Pyrénées of southwestern France. “It’s striking yet classic,” she says, “with its small, consistent green vein against a buttery coloured background.”

11. Lacanche Classic Bussy 900

Known for their quintessential French craftsmanship, Lacanche’s Classic freestanding ovens have “stood the test of time” for Cook. With a “classically durable” design, the range offers three cooking modes—static, grill and convection—making it a versatile choice for a broad range of users.

12. Fantini Icona Range

Described by Cook as “classic and timeless”, the Icona range by Italian tapware brand Fantini stands out for more than just its aesthetics. Designed with comfort and ergonomics in mind, Cook notes, “they really are nice to use thanks to their solidity.”
