Cats make many things better, including art history. Embroidery artist Minami has created an online (Instagram) art gallery called the Cat Embroidery Museum in which felines are now the stars of some of the world’s most recognizable works. A stitched kitty takes the place of Van Gogh in one of his iconic self-portraits while another is looking totally terrified in Edvard Munch’s The Scream. Each utilizes a thread painting technique and has imagined the pieces as a small brooch and often lined with beads.

Started in August 2021, the Cat Embroidery Museum seems to be a relatively new endeavor. I’m looking forward to seeing more!
