Auction house Leonard Joel celebrates the collection of one of Melbourne’s most influential 20th-century decorative arts dealers.

Renowned 20th-century decorative arts dealer Geoffrey Hatty will offer his extensive collection at a career-concluding auction by Leonard Joel on September 27.

Over four decades, Geoffrey, through his eponymous business Geoffrey Hatty Applied Arts, has been an important figurehead among collectors. His keen eye and extensive knowledge of interiors and design movements, together with a natural awareness of beauty, have made him highly sought after.

Geoffrey’s unique and broad collection reflects an inherent sense of his visual sentiment and what he ‘likes’ rather than trends, with pieces including a Gio Ponti bar cabinet for Brusotti Italy c1932 and a Gae Aulenti Ruspa Quattro lamp four Martinelli Luce, Italy c1968.
