Middleton Lodge Estate sits in 200 acres of its very own 17th century parkland. Owners James and Rebecca Allison, have spent the past seven years creatively giving a new lease of life to the Georgian country retreat, preserving its history and carefully restoring the original buildings into characterful, yet contemporary spaces for residents to settle into. The Palladian Main House is still the family residence. Working with the traditions of the estate, the approach to each restoration has been innovative and subtle, with the implementation of true craftsmanship, traditional techniques and composed storytelling. This is now a sanctuary for resting, restoring and revitalising.
Yorkshire Georgian Country Interior
Residents can stay in the individually designed botanical boltholes, each composed with layers of authenticity, dine at the all-day Coach House, or relax in the holistic treatment rooms. Individual settings for weddings and celebrations can be found between the settlements, woodlands and wildflower meadows. Sustainability flows through the estate, especially when it comes to food. Menus focus on seasonal produce plucked from the kitchen garden, added to by locally-sourced fish and meat.
Ancient trees, winding walls and original fences surround the retreat, giving guests privacy. And yet, it’s just five minutes from the historic market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire, and two-and-a-half hours from London by train, with Darlington mainline station a 20-minute journey away.
Guests can enjoy a slower pace of life when staying or dining here, as the surrounding landscape, undulating fields and patchwork parkland encourage the discovery of a new perspective in the countryside.
