Look at the contrast in this Swedish kitchen. The black bottom cupboard fronts combined with the white walls and white upper cabinets contrast so nicely and are soften out by the wood of the dining table and chairs.

Other than the contrast in materials, you can also find a difference in shapes, between the rectangular kitchen module and the round dining table which works very nicely in combination.
