Originally deemed “unimaginative” and “bland” by the design team, Weave House now evokes words such as “polished”, “eclectic”, “warm” and “dynamic”; a home much better suited to its coastal surroundings.
A New Look
While the owners fell in love with the location and size of Weave House, the interiors did not match up to what they had envisioned for their permanent family home. With an expansive site and tranquil water views too hard to pass up, they decided to enlist Hugh-Jones Mackintosh for an interior facelift. “It wasn’t hard for us to see how we could elevate the mood and ‘weave’ a new look into the existing home,” co-director Justine Hugh-Jones says.
Connection to the Outdoors
The new home nestles into the established garden, creating a seamless connection between inside and out. Notably, the main kitchen-dining-living area opens onto a spacious lawn and pool area, creating the impression of one continuous space. “The outdoor spaces needed to appear like an extension of the indoor spaces; they needed to be dynamic,” co-director Katrina Mackintosh says. “The muted blues and greens in the furniture echo the surrounding garden and pool, as well as the interior palette.”
