Sometimes monochrome homes can feel a bit stark or cold.  But as you’ll see from this latest home tour, this monochrome Swedish apartment is anything but cold.  Even though it’s decorated fairly minimally and mostly in grey, white and black tones, this home is both cozy and warm.

As with so many Scandinavian homes, this isn’t a large apartment.  But size is never a barrier to style or functionality with the Scandis!  This home is brimming with simple, doable ideas that will inspire you, especially if you wondering how to make a monochrome colour scheme work in your home.

I’ve included lots of pictures because I wanted to show you the living room from all angles.  As you can see, it’s a pretty standard rectangular room thats long and narrow(ish).  It’s the way that it’s been decorated and the way the space has been used that make it so striking.

The monochrome colour scheme is softened with lots of textures and lots of wood accents.  The very pale wood floors keep the look minimal yet add lots of warmth.  In terms of textures you’ve got lots as you would expect — marble, seagrass, sheepskin, wool — to name a few.  And of course you have feature lighting and lots of plants… all key elements of Scandi decor.

Before we move on from the living room, I have to mention the simple, stylish and practical desk area.  It’s such a great use of the space especially as there’s plenty of room for two.  It looks great too as the wooden chairs and plants are the perfect contrast to the black and white desk.  And best of all, it’s a very easy DIY if you want to create similar.  I have an almost identical desk in my home office but a smaller version.  All I did was get a tabletop plus some trestle legs from IKEA and screwed the legs to the tabletop.  It was so budget friendly too.

The bedroom follows the same monochrome colour scheme and is simple but stylishly decorated.  It’s the little details like the off-centre art, the vintage coat hook and the mis-matched bedside lights that bring this room to life.  It just goes to show that you don’t have to add lots of decor touches to make your bedroom a warm and welcoming place.

The use of the space is once again well planned.  The bedside tables are such a good idea for a small space as they provide both a flat surface and storage area, all without taking any floor space.  I’m guessing they’re from IKEA but if not you can definitely get similar there.  They’ve also included a little reading area with the chair and the wall lamp above it which is always a nice thing to have in your bedroom.

Love monochrome decor?  Here’s another monochrome home but with a very different look showing how versatile monochrome can be.
