I’ve saved minky fabric scraps but rarely use them, so this was the perfect project for me. I couldn’t resist sneaking in my son’s bear for the photoshoot, from my Hipster Teddy Bear pattern. Could there be anything more filled with love than handmade bedding and a softie to snuggle with? We love reading in our family and this is the perfect pillow for my kids to use instead of hogging mine as we look at books.
The main print is a Toucan Zoo fabric by Alexander Henry*, it’s so cheery and bright. My daughter liked pointing out all the colors, which made me think that it would be a perfect project for some i-spy hexies or other patchwork.
Perfect snuggle size! I filled the pillowcase with this organic toddler pillow* off Amazon, it was plenty roomy and fit well. My daughter is 2.5, for size reference (and could use some more pillow cuddling and less jumping off the couch as evidenced by her knee).
This is a great beginner project and easy to make quickly. I’m thinking about bringing these with us when we take our first flights as a family! Great roadtrip pillows too, I know the pillow insert was sold as a toddler/travel pillow and I could totally see using it myself in the car. Find the tutorial in her blog post here and make your own!
