DIY // How To Create A Crochet Crop Top Dress // Free Pattern/Tutorial!

Hello there! I’ve had this crop top just sitting on the side lines and I thought I should rework it into a dress utilizing crochet! One of my favorite diy’s to create so I love sharing them!

Ingredients:

Crochet Hook>> H/8-5.00MM

Craft Scissors

Yarn Sewing Needle

Yarn used>>Less than half a skein for each (4) colors/ Scrap yarn of Isaac’s Colorways Merino Blend/Light 3

Thread and Sewing Needle

Stitch guide:

HDC= half double crochet

SC= single crochet

SS= slip stitch

ST(S)= stitch(es)

CH= chain

R[number]= Row

RND= Round

You will be working in rounds to create the bottom crocheted “skirt” of the dress.

First things first. I measured the circumference of the bottom opening of my top. It is a Size Small and measured out to be 28 inches total.

So I crocheted to that amount using my measuring tape which lead me to a Chain of 98. Connect the Last ST to the very First ST.

RND 1-RND 4: HDC into all of the STS for all the rounds (Remember to alternate your color selections if desired)...SS to connect work and continue.

Using your first color selection: Color 1: RND 6-RND 8: *DC into the first ST, CH 1, and into the following middle ST (of the previous rounds’ double crochet) DC three times into the Same middle ST…(*Repeat method until the end of the Round, SS, after each round, to connect work and continue.

Color Selection 2: RND 9-RND 10: *DC into the first ST, CH 1, and into the following middle ST (of the previous rounds’ double crochet) DC three times into the Same middle ST…(*Repeat method until the end of the Round, SS, after each round, to connect work and continue.

Color Selection 3: RND 11-RND 12: *DC into the first ST, CH 1, and into the following middle ST (of the previous rounds’ double crochet) DC three times into the Same middle ST…(*Repeat method until the end of the Round, SS, after each round, to connect work and continue.

Color Selection 3: RND 13:*DC into the first ST, CH 8, and into the following middle ST (of the previous rounds’ double crochet) DC one time into the middle ST…(*Repeat method until the end of the Round, SS, after each round, to connect work and continue.

Color Selection 4: RND 14-RND 17:*DC into the first ST, CH 8, and into the following middle ST (of the previous rounds’ double crochet) DC one time into the middle ST…(*Repeat method until the end of the Round, SS, after each round, to connect work and continue. At final Round 17, SS to complete final work.

Sew Time

Next, you will sew (using your thread and sewing needle) the crocheted skirt (Row 1) unto the bottom of the top, approximately 4 centimeters. You will sew in between the STS as shown above and into, through the top securing the crocheted piece.
