We lift a palette of rich and soothing tones from the Laminex 2021 Collection: Living Pigments that reflects our collective yearning to bring nature’s influence indoors.
When it comes to creating spaces for relaxation and reprieve in our homes, we look to a palette that reflects our natural world. The Laminex 2021 Collection: Living Pigments taps into this desire to feel closer to the natural environment and calmer as a result. Laminex studied Australia’s sunburnt deserts, verdant forests, and windswept beaches to curate a range inspired by the earth and its flora. In this design covet, we explore how these hues hit all the right notes when designing interiors that are equally soft and comforting, as they are expressive.

As a colour, green is both refreshing yet restorative. This kitchen manifests the inherent appeal of green – through the double-height glazing that provides access to natural light and foliage, and through the pungent Laminex Hushed Pine that wraps the island bench, under bench cabinetry and wall joinery.
The kitchen is underpinned by an industrial aesthetic, accented by black fixtures and a Laminex Manhattan concrete splashback and benchtops. Contemporary pale timber Nerd bar stools by David Geckeler for Muuto and white walls further lighten the space. Together, each element conjures an experience that’s optimistic yet practical and durable.

The nostalgic undertones of burnt orange and rust call on the 1970s – a move that saw the yellow-based red Laminex Moroccan Clay and red-orange Laminex Burnt Ochre added to the Laminex 2021 collection.
As seen in this hospitality venue, the grounding Laminex spice tones are used for flush, custom joinery and shelving blend with the exposed red brick flooring and sumptuous leather banquette detailing. Sydney design studio YSG selected these autumnal colours from the Laminex 2021 collection in the Fantales Kitchen to create what YSG principal Yasmine Ghoniem calls the essence of ‘afternoon delight’ – how golden sunlight warms a space as the day comes to an end.

Terracotta tones and linen textures create a sense of retreat in the bedroom. This quietly sophisticated palette sees soft two-tone custom cabinetry with a shelf inset that contrasts Laminex Porcelain Blush, with the ‘kiln-baked earthiness’ of Laminex Burnt Ochre.
Together with the oak flooring, this palette works to remind us of the comforting nature of earthen ceramics, artisanal weaving and an organic design language.

Neutrals are no longer reserved for cooler greys or washed out beige tones. In the Laminex 2021 collection, Porcelain Blush, as its name suggests, is a versatile shade to be contrasted with the more saturated pigments.
The Laminex Porcelain Blush wall joinery is paired with the rich burgundy Laminex Kalamata island base in this kitchen. Pale pink terrazzo and the Articolo Moni pendant, with its white glass, dipped detail, and gold detailing, further assert the elegantly minimal aesthetic.
