Celozia, a tropical flower in many colors for your yard or garden
Annual tropical plant origin with many different varieties that differ in the individual formation and size of the flower, but which generally has a conical tufted shape, hence the common name of Celogia as “rooster’s mane”.
The oblong leaves grow along the entire length of the shoots at the top of which the flower appears in red, yellow, orange and pink-purple shades.

Celogia is suitable for planting both in flower beds that create very impressive borders and in pots, while in normal temperature conditions and in places with intense sunshine it can be grown indoors.
It belongs to the highly resistant plants in heat-drought conditions while on the contrary it is sensitive to frost.
Care
Soil: Use a fortified topsoil for Celozia and place a layer of gravel in front of the soil for proper absorption and drainage of irrigation water.
Location: Like all tropical plants it needs sun and is very resistant to heat and drought. It can thrive in a semi-shady position, but its general growth as well as its flowering will be reduced.
Watering: You do not need large amounts of water while the pot should have very good drainage. Water every 3-4 days, the spring-summer periods, depending of course on the weather conditions, and only when the soil is dry.
Excessive moisture does not favor it at all and results in the gradual wilting of the plant, while during watering avoid wetting the foliage.
Fertilization: Although it has no special requirements for nutrients from spring to late summer, a granular fertilizer for plants in flower beds or a liquid preparation for those in pots, once a month, helps its flowering.
Pruning: No active pruning is needed except for the removal of any dry-withered leaves, while the cutting of the first flower enhances its subsequent flowering.

Flowering-Propagation
Celozia blooms in spring until the end of summer and is propagated by cuttings during the summer but mainly by seeds.
The seeds that fall to the soil from the flowers when they dry can create many new plants, while in nurseries you will find a mixture of Celosia seeds in various shades that create an impressive result in the duration of flowering, both in flower beds and in planting containers.
