Casa Granero is the first phase of the project to be completed with the construction of the main building attached. It is a modern barn house located in Castillejo de Mesleón, Spain. The project was designed by Alberich-Rodríguez Arquitectos and completed in 2021. The final form of this barn house is the result of previous studies on several variants of the archetypal barn typology, constructions historically designed for storage used in rural settings, and its new interpretation as space. contemporary domestic industry.
The required program is distributed over two floors. The ground floor houses an entrance hall, toilets, storage room and a large dining area that is attached to the kitchen. This space is integrated with an enclosed outdoor space that has continuity with a raised terrace on the ground that surrounds three of the four facades of the house. Two bedrooms, a spacious bathroom and a large terrace have been planned upstairs. The arrangement and size of the projected openings, as well as the use of sliding partitions, allow for a visual connection to the bedroom, bathroom, terrace and the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Being in a region with aggressive weather, it was decided to insulate all gaps in the northern, eastern and western facades with shutters with the same coating on the outer sheathing. On its south side, the curtain wall captures the view and is an attraction of the passing times and seasons. The building structure uses metal columns and reinforced concrete plates. The warehouse enclosure and concrete slab are wrapped to the outside with galvanized steel lacquered in anthracite color. Outside, there is a terrace with a synthetic wood finish resting on a light metal structure.
