Lofts are never a bibliophile’s haven, at least not from the conventional point of view. However, wait until your eyes see the inside of this book-filled Toronto loft and then this cliché will take a nosedive.
The apartment, initially a cheese factory, still maintains its former gusto with all the pipes, brick walls and ductwork of its former life. These, however, and coupled with its high ceiling, give it gritty feeling but in a beautiful way.
The house’s essence and chief attraction is the way the occupants have incorporated the shelving and how everything else is an exhibition of their passion for books and travel. The biggest of these bookcases, rests on the wall in a recess carved out of one corner of the living room. Just below this humongous bookcase is a cabinet playing a host to a turntable, an indication passion.
The stellar character that this design depicts is how it easily clears space so that the living room and bed space exist in an almost clutter-free environment. This is no mean feat considering the relatively small size of the loft.
Most storages spaces come from natural nooks that the initial design allowed. And, how the occupants efficiently use these is another reason this loft stands out!
