A white shaker kitchen with stainless steel cabinet handles, light grey walls and a vintage oval dining table

The white shaker kitchen cabinets are such a perfect choice in this gorgeous turn-of-the-century apartment in Sweden. The white shaker cabinets lighten up the warm hardwood flooring and the light grey wall color and subway tiles in a herringbone pattern create a lovely backsplash.

White shaker cabinets with stainless steel details

The simple yet elegant design of the kitchen cabinets works perfectly with the historical elements in the room, like the door moldings and the crown moldings on the ceiling. The surroundings are always something to take inspiration from when planning a kitchen remodel and this was certainly taken into consideration for this kitchen design as well.

The white shaker cabinets pair up nicely with the white countertops and the stainless steel faucet and cabinet handles add a modern touch to the otherwise classy shaker look that is so apparent in the cabinet lines.

The herringbone pattern of the hardwood flooring (not sure which wood species this is) comes back into the pattern of the tile backsplash on the wall and I like the way the grey wall paint is framed by both the crown molding on the top and the tiles on the bottom.

The upper kitchen cabinets have a white trim on top, while the bottom shaker cabinets have a plinth that shares the same shape, connecting the two kitchen cabinets visually.

Mostly base cabinets for a balanced layout

While some upper shaker cabinets have been added to the layout of this kitchen, the base cabinets hold most of the functionality. The module with the fridge is fitted by the door, a great spot where a larger module like this one doesn’t take away any light.

Above the sink, a window has been fitted which looks out into another room, which is a nice touch and it probably gives the room behind it a little bit more daylight. Since this kitchen is quite big, there is ample space for a large dining table in the middle, which has been placed on top of an area rug.
