de Sede DS-600 Sofa

One of the classics that embodies the lifestyle of de Sede is the de Sede DS-600 Sofa An eccentric design that originated in 1972. The DS-600, also known as the Tatzelwurm or ‘das Nonstop-Sofa’, is a sofa that is conquering the world.  A real masterpiece when it comes to creating curved sofas!

The sofa is a unique indestructible modular system, consisting of separate armchair elements with ultimate seating comfort. The down lining and the leather upholstery together provide the ultimate lounge experience. The elements can be connected to each other by means of a plug-in hinge. Ultimately, the stool element as an intermediate and end element will make it look like that famous snake-shaped sofa.

A Studio 54 favourite

Made famous by New York’s legendary “Studio 54”. A popular New York nightclub from 1977 until 1980 in Manhattan, New York City. And seen in James Bond movies or as among the must-haves in the villas of world famous rock stars, the nonstop DS- 600 sofa is a legendary, snake-shaped seat that never lost any of its originality or radiance and is still characterized by incomparable attention to detail, by the variety of materials used, and by its boundless compositional versatility.

de Sede Terrazza DS- 1025 Sofa

Two organically shaped elements are the perfect base for your personal interpretation with the de Sede DS-1025 Sofa in your interior or in a larger furnishing concept or exhibition. Elle Decoration Netherlands used the Sofa in a presentation during Dutch Design week as pictured above. The individual element is reminiscent of a terrace-like, stepped slope with different widths and depths. The elements ‘left’ and ‘right’ constitute a welcoming two-seater sofa, a seating pyramid or a small range of upholstered hills.

With the term ‘rebuilding Switzerland with Terrazza’, the makers of the DS-1025 Sofa refer to the Swiss vineyards and landscape that inspired Klug to create this eccentric sofa. By collecting winding reliefs on a base plate, he created a Terrazza – resembling the Swiss landscape – that serves as a comfortable seating landscape.

Collectors item

Designed in 1974 by Ubald Klug. The de Sede Terrazza Sofa is a real eye-catcher for any interior and is perfectly expressed in a loft, living room or studio due to its unique design language. A true classic with an unprecedented reputation within and outside the design world. In addition to the love for the design of famous people such as Mick Jagger, Aretha Franklin and Snoop Dogg, the layered seating furniture has become a timeless collector’s item for the ‘laissez-faire living culture’ over the years.

Find more details about the sofas mentioned in this post at  MisterDesign, who kindly collaborated on this post, and has a large collection of design furniture in their s-Hertogenbosch’ showrooms as well as online.
