Beautiful curtains adds so much to an interior. Not only can you keep the sunlight away (we all love as much natural light as possible, but sometimes its necessary), but its also a good way to add warmth, softness, color and texture to your interior. Difficult to decide with all the opportunities out there? Let me give you some examples – I’ve already done the research for myself and hope to make a decision for my bedroom. Soon!
Curtains mounted as high up as possible like above and below from Miss Clara makes the ceiling look higher. In the first photo they only go as far down as to the windowsill, a nice example that shows that you dont actually have to have curtains all the way down to the floors to achieve the elegant expression most of us wants. In the second photo the wall have dark panels in the lower part – then the curtains also have a section with darker color. Clever!

No wonder nicely decorated hotel rooms is being used as an inspiration for bedrooms in many homes – there are so many beautiful ones. The one I always return to, SP 34 has floor to ceiling curtains in the same shade of color as the walls. A tiny bit darker, and a good example of how to choose color for the curtains if you have walls painted in a dark color like here.

White curtains who filters the sunlight like above is will look good regardless and is the safe choice. Nevertheless super beautiful. Photo above from my previous apartment, curtains from Ellos.

More examples on how nice it looks having the curtains inside the window and ending in the windowsill. Above linen curtains in Norwegian photographer Ina Andresens previous home and below from Kinfolk Gallery. Curtains at Kinfolk from Kvadrat.

When it comes to choosing color for the curtains I mostly advice to go for different shades of white, beige and grey. Dark or very saturated colors will often fade due to being exposed to direct sunlight – and of course its a matter of taste as well. Above a beautiful curtain in light grey in the Gjøvik House project by Norm Architects. Walls are painted in different hues of beige and grey, normal and mineral paint – and light grey is a elegant choice for this interior. See more here.

Above, the bedroom in the Sense project by Dubrovska Studios in Copenhagen – beige linen curtains floor to ceiling. Effortless elegance. See the whole project here.
White Linen curtains from Gotain. Floor to ceiling and the extra centimeters draped on the floor makes it look great (forget about cat and kids, I would go for this look regardless).
Again, light grey done in a very sophisticated way by Swedish Liljenkrantz Design above. Will look beautiful with both white, light beige and light grey walls.

Above, mustard colored curtains and walls painted in a very similar color. Looks like the obvious choice, so no need to fear its going to look boring having walls and curtains in the same color. Best recommendations for finding similar both tailor made and ready made curtains – and in different price ranges; Luxaflex, Kvadrat, Gotain, Ellos, HM Home and Ikea.
