Illustrator Joey Yu excels at capturing the overall mood of a place. Her images have sketchbook energy to them—although her finals are more polished—and cloak an interior or outdoor scene in the likes of green, blue, and purple tones. This imbues her characters with personality, and we get the sense that it’s not just them, but the whole world is feeling a bit melancholy or in some illustrations, lit up with hope.
