Soiree Stole Pattern by Two of Wands

The moment Thanksgiving hits I am instantly in a festive mood and ready to sport all of the sparkles, velvets, metallics, and (faux) furs – anyone else? I love the way the city lights up even more with all of the twinkle lights this time of year, and it just feels like you’re walking in a holiday movie set. My new pattern, the Soirée Stole, captures that feeling and will having you RSVPing to every cocktail party in your calendar so you can show it off! It’s the perfect companion for all of your festive events. Scroll down for the free pattern or click here to purchase the ad-free printable PDF.

I originally designed this piece for my sister’s wedding last New Year’s Eve but never got around to writing up the pattern. She got married in the backyard of our house in Ohio with just immediate family present and it was the sweetest evening! I crocheted the Soirée Stole in just a day earlier that week and it was too big to fit in my suitcase back to NYC so I left it there until I returned for Thanksgiving last week!

It was the perfect accessory for her winter wedding in so many ways. Not only did it keep her warm in the winter temperatures, it was so soft and comforting and honestly hard to take off because it just feels so good on! It also photographs so beautifully and really added to the cozy romantic ambiance.

I still couldn’t fit it in my suitcase this time (lol) so I shipped it back to New York and had my boyfriend Nick snap some shots in our neighborhood at dusk. It was just starting to rain and there was a chill in the air but honestly I didn’t mind staying out for the 45min of the shoot (very quick for us!) because this thing is so snuggly. You can also wear it a few different ways – simply draped over the shoulders, crisscrossed with the strap hidden underneath, or crisscrossed with the strap on top.

Go For Faux is one of my go-to winter yarns because it just evokes such a warm and inviting mood. After using it for last year’s Annie and Sophie Bucket Hats, I am so thrilled to have added another GFF accessory to my portfolio. I even got the yarn in a different color already to make a second one!

This is an easy level crochet pattern and the only stitch you’ll need to know is half double crochet. I would have categorized it as beginner, but it can be tough to find your stitches with this kind of fuzzy yarn if you aren’t already familiar with crochet since you’ll have to feel for them in order to know where to put your hook. The good news is, this fabric hides pretty much all mistakes so if you miss a stitch here and there you probably won’t be able to tell at all!

Wrap is worked flat in back and forth rows widthwise – turn at the end of each row. To keep track, place a marker on the side of the fabric with the increases to easily identify it. A marker can also be placed in the first and last stitch of the row as you’re working to easily identify the stitches. The ch 2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
