I was introduced to Pax and Hart through Live Loud Girl. It is easy to enjoy a photo shoot when you are in love with the products and styling. The products that were to be photographed, included art illustrations that are simple, yet refined. Pax and Hart’s poster collection is created by Australian artist, Emma Labbataglia. This talented lady intentionally holds on to her imagination she had as child, and that of her children. The horse with colourful hooves and the spotty tiger with blue and yellow paws are probably my two favourite illustrations from this collection (I couldn’t select only one). The artworks are for children, and for the child in every adult.

The styling by Live Loud Girl is trendy and fun. Live Loud Girl is no stranger to my blog. I love working with Linda, a Dutchie based in Dubai. I am always in awe how she combines traditional and modern elements in one project. The aim of this photo shoot was to photograph the new Pax and Hart collection in a vintage and playful feel.

The basement wall is the perfect canvas to achieve this look. Linda’s thoughts on styling: “start with a good base, a white canvas if possible”. This is music to a photographer’s ears! Blank canvases, like white walls, create a simplicity that allows your subject to pop to the foreground without too much effort. I loved the cement floor! The neutral texture and darker tone of the floor, create the perfect contrast to the overall look at feel.

With the basics in place, the blank canvas is brushed with a splash of colour. Adding rugs, pendants, greenery and colorful ribbons are a way to achieve this. The setting is shouting fun! but is also still in line with the simple and refined prints of Pax and Hart. Another playful approach is to place framed prints on the floor. These artworks made their way from the wall to the floor and onto the colourful rugs. Who said frames are for hanging? Enjoy!
