Old meets New in a Striking Danish Thatched Country Home
Who doesn’t love to look around homes that are for sale and dream a little? This country home popped up on my facebook feed yesterday. It belongs to friends of a friend Lonnie and Mathew – who have decided to up-sticks to South Africa. After the February we’ve had I can hardly blame them! Even so, selling their beautiful18th century thatched cottage on the Danish Riviera must be a heartbreaking decision.

You only need to look through the pictures to understand just how much love the pair have poured into restoring the property, transforming it into a wonderful modern, open-plan home, while ensuring the original features shine through. Even the garden has been beautifully landscaped (this caught my eye in particular, since I have started on our cottage garden and it’s no easy feat!). Whoever snaps up this country home is incredibly lucky – if only it came with the furniture too!

This home really fascinates me as it’s quite unlike other Scandinavian country homes I’ve seen before. Could it have a hint of the med? Or maybe one of the owners is South African (hence the move) in which case this has influenced the interior? The stairs in particular had me pondering – as I have never seen this style of concrete stairwell before in a property like this.
Either way, it’s always great to experience something new, do you agree? And I’d happily move in, how about you? In case you’re curious, you can find the listing here
Here are some other droolworthy Danish country homes to explore today:
Happy Monday friends!
