Winter is coming closer and even though I’m not entirely in the Christmas mood yet, I’m looking forward to those cozy times and am making some small changes in our interior. We spend so much more time at home now that it got colder and darker and I’m embracing the cozy times spend at home reading, watching Netflix and baking (looking forward to making Christmas cookies soon, but I have kept it to pancakes for now).

I like the Nordic way of decorating for Christmas and preparing for winter. It’s a more subtile decor, neutral colors with a hint to Christmas, but focused on coziness. It’s a trend that’s very popular here in Germany now as well and I couldn’t be more happy about that.

I teamed up with Iittala to show you how I make small changes to my lifestyle and interior in the days leading up to Christmas. I like to bake and eat comfort food in the colder days and the presentation of food becomes so much more fun with the new Teema collection in dotted grey. The dots bring festivity to Kaj Franck’s classic tableware and originate from the substances in the colour glaze that won’t melt. They are randomly placed on the surface making every item dotted in an unique way. We use the white Teema dinnerware on a daily basis and these dotted ones are really nice to change things up when you have guests over.

The Alvar Aalto vase which was originally presented in 1939 is now available in a series of new variations, including bowls, a 220 mm tall vase and a rose gold bowl which is inspired by Alvar Aalto’s architecture, where copper handles and rails were essential details. The rose gold really stands out in the table setting and I love the mix with the grey ceramics and glass on the table.

In a cozy winter setting textiles are a must as well of course and I like the structured fabrics of the Iittala X Issey Miyake pillow cases in light and dark grey combined with other fabrics. The innovative pleating techniques of the pillows are intriguing and add a little bit of structure, which is especially nice when combined with soft textiles like linen and sheep skin. I love this cozy winter feeling that has been added to our interior and look forward to adding more subtile Christmas hints soon.
