Smålands Skinnmanufaktur (SSM) are a design studio based in Sweden who manufacture beautiful leather furniture and accessories. Founded by designer Hillevi Magnell, and Johan Stockhem who runs the production side of the business, SSM work with leather from the world’s only environmentally certified tanner: Tärnsjö Garveri. Designed with longevity in mind, their products are made by hand from mostly Swedish, natural grey and chromium-free leather, and get more beautiful with age. Today they have launched “SSM in the middle of life”, a story behind the brand, conveying how the products come to life when they are part of a person’s life. Told through beautiful imagery by stylist duo Sundling Kickén and photographer Emily Laye, here’s a look at the magic they have created.
