This fresh and bright home design is the FRND House, where natural materials and colours connect with the outer environment. Designed by MCORP Architects, the 165 square metre project was designed for a young family who desired a minimalistic and airy base that promotes comfort. Flowing lines became the hinging concept for the project, which aids in an easy flow for daily family life. Large windows keep the family connected to their attractive garden, and bring natural illumination to the open plan living space throughout the day. The kids’ rooms are uplifted with colourful accents, in shades of breezy sky blue and a warm tint of persimmon.
A wood grain focal wall makes the minimalist lounge space into a warm and inviting area. The rounded, pillowy modern sofa looks just too soft and comfortable to resist.
The projector-friendly living room features a retractable screen that descends in front of a wall mounted TV. The wood panelling that backs the sofa area continues seamlessly up and over the ceiling to join with the media wall on the opposite side of the room, forming a cosy cabin-like cocoon. A slimline floating media unit underlines the wood panelling with a clean white finish.
The living room dining room combo benefits from large floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in copious amounts of natural light and an attractive view of the lush green garden lawn.
A plethora of Indoor plants bring nature inside, which are beautifully complemented by the expanses of natural wood grain.
Rounded wood effect cabinets smoothly edge the kitchen installation. Their tone is matched to the wraparound panelling in the lounge to achieve a cohesive aesthetic.
A set of three nesting coffee tables form a tonal arrangement at the centre of the open concept lounge.
Above the dining table, a linear suspension light makes a floating shelf for an abundant row of house plants.
Monstera and ferns create both height and length along the ceiling-mounted shelf.
Modern wooden dining chairs feature grey seat cushions to tie in with the raw concrete kitchen backsplash nearby.
Out in the entryway, a full-length mirror breaks up a wall of mellow wood grain.
A muted green entryway bench is parked beside the mirror to fashion a convenient dressing area. A small floating shelf offers a spot to throw down keys and cell phones.
Light from the bedroom windows is shared with the hallway via a frosted glass door and partition wall.
Inside the bedroom, a wood-panelled headboard wall makes a warming focal point in a predominantly white decor scheme. Two black bedroom pendant lights contrast starkly against the natural backdrop.
A greige upholstered bed is flanked by built-in wooden bedside shelves.
At the foot of the bed, a double workplace is well lit by a multidirectional light fixture.
Inside the master bathroom, we discover another plant adorned light fixture above a modern vanity unit.
A unique bathroom sink is teamed with a modern wall mounted faucet. A frameless mirror crosses the wall of the vanity area, which is atmospherically lit around its edge by strips of soft LED light.
The over bath shower screen is frameless along its outer edge to produce a minimalistic finish.
At the opposite end of the fitted bathtub, a tower of handy toiletries shelving is recessed into the stucco. LED shelf lights make a ladder of attractive and functional illumination.
In the first of two kids’ rooms, a sky blue decor scheme achieves a breezy, cheerful look. The blue wall colour is applied in an ombre effect that fades to white behind the kid’s bed.
A cute sloth plush toy nestles into raised sides of the upholstered kid’s bed, which joins onto a padded window seat.
On the adjacent wall, a bank of kids’ wardrobes and open toy shelves are finished in a perfectly coordinated sky blue finish. Large and chunky wardrobe door handles add fun adornments.
A small white pendant light hangs above a contrasting black bedside table.
The final wall is dedicated to a kid’s study area. Decorative wall shelves store books above the kid’s desk.
The blue design object tucked down on the floor is the iconic Magis puppy by Eero Aarnio.
The second kid’s room is accented with warm hints of persimmon orange. A pattern mural forms an eye-catching focal wall behind the headboard.
Curved wooden wall panels wrap the sides of a cosy window seat.
A bright orange side table tucks between the bed and the window seat to serve both areas.
We see a repeat of the decorative wall shelves in this kid’s study area too but this time with an orange twist. The legs of the kid’s desk are given a matching orange finish to pull the elements of the small workspace together.
The family bathroom has a simple, raw concrete decor scheme that’s topped with a smooth white rendered crown. Natural light floods into the narrow space via clerestory windows and perimeter LEDs add to the bright glow. A minimalistic shower screen closes off a large shower area beside the wall hung toilet. Wall mounted WC accessories keep the floor area looking clear and spacious.
A wood effect vanity unit appears to extrude from an adjacent wood panelled statement wall. A vase of greenery makes a fresh addition beside the modern vessel basin and a matt white bathroom faucet.
