Presented as part of Melbourne Design Week, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) and Melbourne Art Foundation bring us Melbourne Design Fair, Australia’s largest showcase of contemporary and twentieth-century design.

In 2022, for its very first instalment, Melbourne Design Fair paid homage to more than 100 designers from across Australia. This year, the fair will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and include more than 150 designers across 60-plus presentations staged by prominent commercial galleries, design agencies, organisations and studios. Akin to last year, visitors will be offered the opportunity to view and purchase unique pieces from leading and emerging Australian designers, including furniture, lighting, objects and contemporary jewellery.

Melbourne Design Fair 2023 will debut two NGV-curated exhibitions titled ‘Discovery’, dedicated to promoting and selling work by emerging designers and makers, and ‘Focus’, which will highlight the work of five eminent female designers and makers. Both exhibitions will occur concurrently with an exciting program of independent exhibitions and group presentations.

Melbourne Design Fair is set to take place from May 18 – 21, 2023, at the MCEC – 1 Convention Centre Pl, South Wharf. For more details on the fair or to view the full list of exhibitors and featured designers, visit the Melbourne Design Fair website:

“Melbourne Design Fair is a vital platform for the visibility and viability of Australia’s design industries. After the challenges of the past few years, events like this offer real, tangible support to our sector – and especially to local designers, makers and studios.”
