Experience nine Natural Floorcovering Centres sisal rugs characterised by durability, organic textures and timeless interior appeal.

Based in Sydney and Melbourne, Natural Floorcovering Centres has specialised in importing natural, woven rugs and carpets for more than 50 years.

One of the first to offer natural fibre floorcoverings in Australia, Natural Floorcovering Centres have a firm grasp on selecting quality rugs and carpets made from sisal, seagrass, wool, coir and paper. Their galleries are home to a range of ready-made rugs, while they understand that finding the perfect rug often comes down to creating a custom size and shape.

We recently entered interior designer Alex Morrison’s own Sydney harbour apartment, showcasing her distinctly European heritage through the palette, objects and furniture curation. As the foundation of her living room, Alex sourced an Oriental Rush Sisal rug from the Natural Floorcovering Centres to complement the home’s neutral tones and organic textures, such as antique Murano Glass sconces and Pierre Jeanneret Low chair for Le Corbusier.

In this Insider’s Guide, we lift inspiration from Alex’s home to curate an edit of nine Natural Floorcovering Centres sisal rugs. Sisal is one of the strongest fibrous materials, made from the fibres of the sisal plant – meaning it’s both non-toxic and low-maintenance. A sisal rug with wool and paper can also offer further layers of softness and richness in texture. The complex weave that characterises each rug in this edit makes a subtle statement, acting as a natural base layer that sets the tone within a home.
