Belgian designer explores an architectural interplay of lines to design interiors that say more with less.
Based in Roeselare, a city in the Flemish province of , Laura Calleeuw’s projects reflect the natural environment that surrounds them. Her most recent project, Onbekend, layers a natural, textural palette and the work of craftspeople to cultivate a sense of warmth. At the same time, Laura draws influence from both Nordic and Japanese design through a careful curation of pieces to complete each space.

Upon entering the home, the kitchen is the focal point. Laura notes the is the ‘eye catcher’; its white veins stand out against the sandy tones of the , joinery and splash-back. This striking stone stretches from the island and rear benchtops to the bar storage, concealed by . Upstairs, the theme continues in the bathroom with a bespoke vanity.
Seeking Comfort

When describing the overall feeling of being in the home, Laura Calleeuw says the interiors are designed to “embrace you”. “When you walk in this new home, you feel inner peace,” Laura says. “I always get emotional by these kinds of projects where everything falls together.”

The main bathroom features a custom grey stone sink, walnut joinery and walls coated in textural lime wash paint.
