For the latest home tour, I’ve got this cosy minimalist home in Malmo, Sweden.  It’s the simplicity of this home that makes it so striking.  Measuring just over 500 sq ft (50 sqm), it’s a small one bedroom apartment.  Despite this, it looks spacious and bright because it has been decorated simply and in soft, neutral tones throughout.

Sometimes minimalist homes can end up looking stark or clinical. But this home has plenty of warmth and cosiness which comes from the use of lots of wooden furniture and decor.  As you’ll see from the pics below, there is a mix of wooden tones which adds interest and depth to the space.  Keeping all the wood in the same colour can end up making a room look flat.  In addition to the wood, there is plenty of texture throughout the home which is key to making a space look cohesive and cozy.

The living room is small but by having just a few simple pieces of furniture and keeping space empty it feels bigger than it is.  There is so much beautiful texture in this living room — the linen sofa covers, the sculptural vase with twigs, the rattan chair, the glass vases, the wall panelling and of course all the wood.  Speaking of the glass vases, they add a striking pop of colour to this very neutral space. It’s all these little details that make this space so striking.

This room also benefits from beautiful period features like the original fireplace and the ceiling moulding.  This adds tons of character to the room.  The wooden bench tucked away on the side is a handy addition in any small home as it provides extra seating when needed but can also be used as a table.  The bench is made of cane which again adds more texture to the space.

The bedroom has the same cozy minimalist vibe as the rest of the home.  Once again, there are lots of textures and wooden tones.  The small details like the choice of lamps and bedside stool once again add so much to this simple bedroom.  There aren’t too many decor details in this bedroom but what there is has been carefully chosen and it works so incredibly well.  Once again you have a hint of colour through the striped cushion and the muted bedspread.  This bedroom has such a serene feeling which is exactly what you want from a bedroom.

Simple decor and design are precisely what makes this kitchen so stunning.  I love the contrasting wood tones especially the pale wooden stool against the darker wood dining table.  The contrast of styles works just as well — the dining table is aged and rustic while the chairs and the stool are modern and minimalist.  Also the chunky industrial style light adds another detail that is striking.  There is so much warmth in this kitchen, don’t you think?

This cosy minimalist home clearly shows that design doesn’t have to be complicated.  Simplicity works wonderfully because this home is so simple yet so stunning!
