Elena, aka Saturno Rosa, thinks of embroidery as a mask. Stitching on tulle fabric, she creates fragments of faces within a wooden hoop. From a distance, her chosen material appears almost non-existent with only the stitches visible. Elena then holds the hoop to her face and has a whole new look; she dons a purple nose, seriously long eye-lashes, and colorful lipstick. This combination of craft and photography is a delightfully Surrealist take on the everyday.
