Neolith is the world’s leading brand when it comes to sintered stone. What makes this architectural surface so unique? 

Con Papadakis: Initially founded in Spain in 2009, this innovative, architectural surface with superior technical characteristics is crafted from 100% all-natural, raw materials. Over the years its popularity has grown to become a leading solution for both indoor and outdoor projects given its high-performance functionality.

Synonymous with quality, versatility, durability, and sustainability Neolith sintered stone was initially created to meet the most demanding needs in the world of architecture and interior design through a number of different collections, each of which is suitable for any type of application including kitchen countertops, bathrooms, facades, flooring, and even furniture.

Can you talk about Neolith’s goals as a company?

Con Papadakis: At Neolith, we have three goals. Firstly, we want to create bright and bold spaces that can be enjoyed to their fullest. Secondly, and quite simply, we want to make sustainable environments a reality. Finally, building on from that, we want to work responsibly to shape a future we can all look forward to. All three goals culminate in a desire to make the world a better place.

How are Neolith products designed to be environmentally friendly? 

Con Papadakis: At Neolith, we believe there is no innovation without sustainability. Every slab is made using 100 percent natural raw materials, with up to 98 percent of those materials being recycled. The product is also completely reusable, helping contribute to a circular economy. Alongside this, each slab is made using electricity from 100 percent renewable sources, and 100 percent of the water used in our production facility is recycled. At the end of the production process, we recycle 96 percent of our industrial waste.

Can you tell us more about the materials and innovative technical process behind crafting sintered stone? 

Con Papadakis: Neolith starts with producing the raw materials that make up the slabs, which involves grinding natural minerals down into a fine powder. The powder then undergoes several steps before it is sintered, including applying pressure, straightening out the edges, and eliminating any moisture. Finally, sintering is the stage where the slabs are heated up to 1,200 degrees celsius to produce a highly compact slab. The final product is exceptionally durable and resistant to scratches and high temperatures.

Neolith’s sintered stone surfaces can be applied to several different surfaces. Can you talk us through some of these versatile applications within the home? 

Con Papadakis: The applications of Neolith are extensive, making it an extremely versatile surface. It can be used internally and externally in various spaces, including the kitchen, bathroom, laundry and outdoor entertaining areas. Applications include benchtops, splash-backs, floors, wall cladding, and even the inside of the pool.

Can you tell us which products have been the most popular globally and within the local Australian market?

Con Papadakis: Neolith’s number one colour globally is Basalt Black by virtue of its subtle tonal variations and unique industrial feel. Here in Australia, Basalt Black is also one of the top sellers alongside our Himalaya Crystal, Calacatta Luxe and Blanco Cararra. 

Neolith is well regarded for its extensive product development and ongoing evolution. So what’s next for the brand? 

Con Papadakis: The future for Neolith is very promising. Our full-bodied Iconic Design collection will soon be launched and available to customers. Comprising products with full-body decoration and zero per cent silica, the collection will be an industry first – a testament to the brand’s desire to constantly evolve and innovate.
