boiled egg decorating idea

minimalist Easter eggs to DIYFor some, Easter is all about the chocolate.  For me it’s all about decorating eggs.  I mean, of course I eat the chocolate too but my favourite bit is Easter egg decorating.  This year I made these minimalist Easter eggs with a simple but striking alphabet/number print.  I was inspired by these minimalist stationery designs that I have on my desk.

If you’re a regular here you’ll know how much I love simple, minimalist designs and it’s with this in mind that I chose to create these Easter eggs with this simple pattern in beautiful neutral tones.  I’m so pleased with how these Easter eggs turned out.  I’m planning to make a few more and use them as Easter table decorations.  All I need is a white linen table cloth with these eggs as the centrepiece.

These minimalist Easter eggs couldn’t be easier to make.  Waiting for the paint to dry is the longest bit!

Materials:
hard boiled eggs
acrylic paints + brush (see colours I used below)
number and letter stickers

my paint colours: ash brown , warm grey , black , white
I used the warm grey as is and I also went for a lighter version by mixing in the white acrylic.

These eggs couldn’t be easier to make.  Paint your eggs – you’ll need 3 coats for the lighter colours and just 1 will do for the black.  Once dry, stick on your numbers and letters in a random manner. Done!

I used boiled eggs but you can also blow out your eggs.  I don’t do that as I find the whole thing a bit icky!!

Here’s a quick video:

I absolutely love how these minimalist Easter eggs turned out. They are simple, chic and minimal and can be used in so many ways.  Us them as Spring table decorations or display them in a glass jar.  You could even spell out names of your Easter guests and use these eggs as name place holders.
