How about a DIY Jewelry tutorial today? I made these super easy Snake Statement Earrings and they took no time to make. I’m seeing a lot of wildlife and nature-inspired imagery in art, furniture and jewelry. If you’ve got a bit of a “wild” side, read on, and I’ll show you how to make this fun pair of earrings that you can wear anywhere!
What You Need To Make DIY Snake Statement Earrings
You will only need these 2 items to make your snake earrings:
- Gold ear wires or ear hooks. When selecting your ear wires, be sure to get the ones with the ball hooks and no closures
- Snake charms. I got these cute green ones on Etsy. I absolutely love the color, weight and shape of these beauties. Perfect for dangle earrings.

How To Make Snake Statement Earrings
- Prepare your ear wires – Open the small round loop in each ear wire gently (where the ball hook is) with your fingers
- Thread the snake charm from the back of the ear wire to the base of the small round loop
- Carefully close the loop with your fingers
- Repeat for the other ear wire and snake charm
- Create as many pairs you need if you are giving as gorgeous handmade gifts

Whether you are making these fun snake earrings for yourself or as gifts, here are some suggestions on how to care for your handmade statement earrings that I got from one of my favorite earring parts sellers:
- Avoid wearing your DIY Snake Earrings in swimming pools or the ocean. If you are in a tropical location, I’m totally jealous. But please note that the chemicals in the pool water or salt water may destroy those gorgeous snake earrings. The message is: don’t get your “couture” wet!
- To clean your fab earrings, gently polish them with a soft, lint-free cloth
- When you are not wearing your DIY Earrings, store them in a cool dry place.
- Avoid wearing your earrings to bed. First, ouch. Second, there are some pointy edges that may disturb your peaceful slumber. That’s all.
