Recognising the inadequacies in the original layout, especially in the lack of natural light in the main living area, the design team orchestrated a spatial overhaul that prioritised light, openness, and a connection to the outdoors. Increasing the size of the windows became pivotal in drawing light into the home’s heart and enhancing the communal spaces’ functionality.
The material palette pays subtle homage to the home’s surroundings by incorporating natural lime-washed oak floors, fresh white walls and calming coastal-inspired natural stones. “The marble in the kitchen reminds me of the sand dunes, while the travertine in the bathrooms resembles weathered cliffs by the sea,” Jo says. “Our objective was to evoke the feeling of being by the coast rather than the look.”
