We have Falcon to thank for the first premium range cooker, first introduced in 1830. In the 190 years since, they’ve been a world leader in designing and manufacturing premium range cookers, developing an extensive range that is a testament to nearly two centuries of exceptional craftsmanship.

We had the opportunity to sit down with the exclusive Australian distributor of Falcon, Andi-Co Australia’s Head of Marketing, Robin Werth, who shares insights into the brand’s meticulous approach to their cookers’ aesthetic and functional elements. By the end of our conversation, it became very clear why, as Robin says, “there is a Falcon range cooker for every kitchen design.”

In partnership with Falcon

Where did the Falcon story begin?

Robin Werth: We have a rich history spanning more than 200 years. It all started in England in 1803 when John Flavel moved his metal-working business from Rugby to Leamington Spa. John’s factory became ingrained in the town’s economy and was where his son, William, created his groundbreaking invention, the Kitchener range cooker, in 1830. This incredible cooker, made of cast iron and powered by solid fuel, could do it all: boiling, roasting, baking, and warming all with the same heat source. People considered it one of the most important household innovations of the 19th century.

What makes Falcon range cookers unique from others?

Robin Werth: We have an extensive range of designs – more than 170 in fact – and we truly believe that there is a Falcon range cooker for every kitchen design, from traditional designs like the Classic Deluxe to European-inspired designs like the Elise. We offer a wide range of colours, too, from our recently-launched, nature-inspired Earth Colour collection to more traditional colourways like black, cream, and stainless steel.

Regarding our brand heritage, every Falcon cooker is made by hand at the same historic site in Leamington Spa, where the very first Kitchener range cooker was made in 1830. We pride ourselves on the craftsmanship, quality, and reliability that is built into every cooker.

How are your range cookers designed with aesthetics in mind?

Robin Werth: We strongly believe that the range cooker is the focal point of every kitchen, and as such, we take a meticulous approach to the aesthetic elements of our cookers. Whether it’s the towel rail or the control knobs, we pay close attention to every small detail, striving to bring elegance to the kitchen. Moreover, we carefully select materials that embody our brand ethos of skilful craftsmanship and exceptional quality.

On the other hand, how are your range cookers designed with functionality in mind?

Robin Werth: We approach every design with the home cook in mind. Large oven capacities ensure our cookers accommodate any type and size of dish, while a wide range of induction and steam capabilities diversify the ritual of cooking. We also offer a range of accessories such as bread-proving drawers and Teppanyaki grill plates. Owning a Falcon range cooker means no other cooking appliances are required; you can prepare pretty much any meal you like with the variety of functions the cooker offers.

We strongly believe that the range cooker is the focal point of every kitchen.”

– Robin Werth

How might a Falcon range cooker be suited to a traditional kitchen design versus a contemporary kitchen design?

Robin Werth: This goes back to our philosophy that there is a Falcon range cooker for every kitchen design, making choosing one a very personal act. Our cookers don’t have to be limited to a certain style either; a traditional-style range cooker can look equally good in a sleek, modern kitchen design, and vice-versa.

What’s next for Falcon? What can we look forward to?

Robin Werth: As a longstanding brand, we continuously seek to improve – in specifications, production, and design. With the sustained growth of induction cooktops, we plan on incorporating them into our new models. We’re also always bringing out new colourways of our existing, customer-favourite models.
