Not gonna lie, when I started making these babies it was hard to stop lol. These cutie coasters are SO fun to crochet and while the pattern only calls for 5, I think I need one in every Color Theory hue!
I used to be super scared of mandala style crochet patterns because I had no idea how to increase properly while using so many different stitches. These took a few attempts to get right, but now that I’ve designed them I can’t wait to tackle a more complicated mandala. These are perfect for those who are new to the style.
Now all I need is a backyard so I can through an epic party and crochet one of these bad boys for each guest to take home as a gift – how fun would these be as party favors!? It’s too bad my 400 sq ft NYC apt doesn’t come with one of those 🙁
This is an intermediate level crochet pattern and the techniques involved are single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, double crochet clusters, magic ring, and working in the round.
1 skein each

Notes: Coasters are worked in joined rounds. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the start of each round (optional). When working a 3dccl at the beginning of a round, the ch 2 counts as the first of the 3 dc.
Make 1 per color:
Begin with a magic ring.
Round 1: Working into the ring, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc 11, sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (12 dc)
Round 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc + 1 ch-1 sp), *dc, ch 1, rep from * around, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4 to join. (12 dc + 12 ch-1 sp)
Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, rep from * around, sl st to top of 1st sc to join. (12 sc + 12 ch-2 sp)
