Callistemon Citrinus, its scientific name originating from Australia and although it is characterized as a shrub, Callistemon can exceed 4-5 meters in height and grow like a normal tree, while with proper pruning it can be formed and maintained in more low size.
The shoots are covered with thin light green leaves that look like those of Myrth and at the end of them are created in flower arrangement the very special flowers with the red stamens, which in fact are the ones that offer the plant its very impressive appearance.

Callistemon is a very easy plant without the need for special care and the most important thing for its proper growth and flowering is to be in a very sunny spot. It is drought resistant, so it does not need very frequent watering, except every 2-3 days during the summer, and especially if you place it in a pot, it should have very good drainage without stagnant irrigation water.
It is sensitive only to prolonged frost and north winds, so prefer to place it in an air-protected place where it will receive sunlight most hours of the day.
It thrives just as well in coastal locations without being affected by droplets and sea salt.

Its ornamental value is due to the fact that the flowers remain on the plant for more than 4-5 months, since the flowering of Callistemon begins in the spring and lasts until the first cold of autumn.
